Cell therapy products include immunotherapies, cancer vaccines, and other types of both autologous and allogeneic cells designed to treat different conditions. The cells used to produce cell therapy products include hematopoietic stem cells and adult and embryonic stem cells. Hematopoietic cells are the cells that become blood cells and a diverse group of immune cells. Cell and gene therapy products are grouped together because these technologies are often combined.
Human gene therapy products are used to modify or manipulate human genes or the expression of human genes. Gene therapy products can also be used to change the properties of living cells for use as therapeutics.
