Biologics. China is recommending that doctors use a Roche product, Actemra, to treat patients with lung damage from COVID-19. Drugs like Actemra have the ability to prevent cytokine storms or overreaction of the immune system, a main reason behind the organ failure that can lead to death in some coronavirus patients.
Roche has also received emergency approval from the FDA for a SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic test.
